The Roseville City Council has approved the fiscal year 2026-2027 citywide budget, totaling $877 million. This budget includes significant allocations for capital projects, such as renovations to the Roseville Aquatics Complex and improvements to electric and water utilities infrastructure. Despite these investments, the council acknowledged that only about 25-30% of the city’s capital improvement needs are currently funded.
In addition to budget approvals, the council addressed community concerns regarding infrastructure maintenance in older neighborhoods. Residents have reported issues like crumbling sidewalks, dead trees, and deteriorating soundwalls, particularly in areas near Foothill and Junction boulevards. Homeowners have expressed frustration over the city’s response to maintenance requests, citing inadequate repairs and ongoing safety hazards.
Furthermore, the council discussed a proposed Measure A, which seeks to adjust council member compensation from the current $600 per month, established 26 years ago, to $2,550 per month. This measure also includes provisions for annual incremental adjustments tied to inflation, not exceeding 5%.
Public comments during the meeting highlighted the importance of addressing infrastructure maintenance funding and the need for affordable housing. The council emphasized their commitment to balancing fiscal responsibility with the community’s needs and concerns.
